Want to know what a furnace tune up covers? Call (951) 574-1698 and our Riverside team will walk you through it.
Eighteen points: that is the checklist behind the furnace tune up in our Freedom Plan, from burners to venting. A furnace that idled all summer needs more than a glance at the filter. A technician tests the safety controls, not just the parts that affect comfort. Our $179 Super Tune Up covers a furnace tune up, an AC tune up, a ductwork inspection and filter replacement in one visit. Already seeing trouble? Try furnace repair.
Any furnace benefits. These three situations make it more urgent.
Idle Since Spring
Months of disuse let dust build up and hide faults until the first cold night.
Dusty Home or Pets
Dust and pet hair load the filter and blower faster than you might think.
Never Serviced
If you cannot recall the last tune up, assume the furnace is due.
Most of what matters inside a furnace sits behind a metal panel. A cracked heat exchanger or blocked venting can let combustion gases into the house, and you would not see it coming. That is why a licensed technician looks, rather than guessing.
You hear what was found, what is worn and what can wait, in plain words.
Burners, heat exchangers and vents sit out of sight. A tune up puts a licensed technician where you cannot look, before a hidden fault turns into a safety problem or a no heat night.
Furnace cleaning starts here: the burners and the flame sensor collect residue that makes a furnace light badly or shut off early. The technician cleans what needs it, checks the igniter and tests how the gas valve and flame behave. If something is failing, a $146 heating diagnostic turns the finding into clear repair recommendations.
A furnace can only heat what it can move. We check the blower, the filter and airflow through the system, and the Super Tune Up adds a ductwork inspection and filter replacement. Duct cleaning is a separate call: the EPA does not recommend routine cleaning on a fixed schedule, so the inspection decides. Details on air duct cleaning.
This is the part nobody sees. The technician looks over the heat exchanger, checks that venting is clear and tests the safety controls that shut a furnace down when something goes wrong. Keep a carbon monoxide alarm working, and if you smell gas, leave and call the gas utility or 911. The Freedom Plan builds the winter visit in.
Customers mention furnace inspections and ductwork in their reviews, and that is where we spend our time on a tune up.
Furnace visits are scheduled in Riverside, Eastvale, Moreno Valley, Perris, Calimesa and Palm Desert.
The $179 Super Tune Up includes a furnace tune up along with an AC tune up, a ductwork inspection and filter replacement. If you only want heating covered, Freedom heating maintenance is $149 for a complete heating tune up. Active military, veterans and first responders get 20 percent off with valid proof of service.
Burners, igniter, flame sensor, heat exchanger, venting, blower, filter and the safety controls, among other points. The Freedom Plan includes an 18 point furnace tune up each winter. Ask us for the visit list when you book so you know what to expect.
You should not. It will often still run, but dust goes straight into the blower and heating parts, which can cause problems and shorten the furnace's life. If you are out of filters, keep the run time as short as possible until you can buy one.
Most disposable furnace filters are not, because they are dirty and made of mixed materials, so they usually go in the trash. Check with your local waste hauler, since programs differ. Washable filters can be reused, but they need to dry fully before going back in.
Moisture on a filter is not normal. Common causes include a whole home humidifier overshooting, a clogged condensate drain, a leaking duct or coil, or water getting in from outside. Turn the system off, replace the filter and call us so a technician can find the source.
Once a year, ideally in early fall before the first cold night. That is the rhythm of the Freedom Plan, which pairs an 18 point furnace tune up in winter with an AC tune up in summer. Dusty homes or older furnaces can justify a closer look.
AmeriWest handles furnace service across the county from our Riverside office. Book online or call (951) 574-1698. Tell us the furnace is idle since spring and what you have noticed, and we will plan the visit around it.
Things you cannot see or smell: cracks or rust on the heat exchanger, blocked venting, a worn igniter, a dirty flame sensor and loose electrical connections. No inspection can promise a breakdown will never happen. See heating maintenance for the pre winter checklist.
